A New Look

Owen’s first head shave. His hair was suddenly falling out so bad, leaving him with large bald spots and hair all over the place. It was time to take care of it. He did so well sitting still while I shaved it. I was able to keep some hair on top as we had family pictures the same day and I wanted some hair on him for that.

The top hair has been falling out though so we will see when that has to be taken care of. His shaved hair has also been falling out, but it’s not as noticeable everywhere like his longer normal hair was and is. We got him a couple new hats that he’s been proudly wearing around, and the hospital gave us a couple chemo hats/beanies which are thinner hats that he can wear indoors or when it gets too warm for winter toques.

Rick shaves his head regularly so he did that the night before we did Owen. So far, two of Owen’s uncles and one great-uncle have shaved their heads in support of him and his journey. We truly appreciate the love, care and support of others for our son through this all.

On the pictures you can see some of the areas where he is completely bald. These are targeted areas from his radiation treatments. The rest of his hair has been falling out and thinning due to his chemotherapy treatments. The hope is that his hair will grow back when he is done treatments. If the Lord blesses us with time, then only time will tell just how Owen’s hair will do and how it will come back.
